How to Check for Roof Damage After a Storm

After hail or a heavy storm, you may be wondering if your roof suffered any damage. Here are a few things to look for in assessing your home. If you believe your home has indeed endured damage once you've gone through these steps, give JLM Construction a call. Proudly serving the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, we're happy to get your home back in shape.

See what you can find from a ground level.

You don't have to climb up onto your roof – and we advise against it. Instead, just walk around the perimeter of your home and notice if there are any missing shingles or if anything looks off. Be sure to take pictures. They'll come in handy for insurance purposes.

Don't forget about fallen trees.

It's not uncommon for trees to break or for limbs to fall and land on the roofs of homes during a storm. If you notice limbs on your roof or even branches hanging lower than before, give us a call. Check your fence, patios, and other outdoor areas for damage, too.

Take a look at your gutters and windows.

Notice any cracks, dents, or broken glass? If so, don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Check your walls, attic, and ceilings.

Once you've assessed the outside, head inside to see if there are any leaks or water spots.
